I didn't know i could do that !!!

After a week of sketching everything we got to play with some mod rock which is like bandages covered in plaster, in order

to re-create a sketch we did at Cusworth house of the trees and woods there

it was a gorgeous day and the whole of our group really enjoyed it we even turned it in to a picnic.

It was an interesting day and it showed how our sketches can be interpreted in other mediums.

And so we continued, getting stuck in with wire and fibre board and plaster we also used a spot welder and

other various heavy duty equipment, and i come up with this.

Well that all from me for now will be back with some cards soon Half term coming up so no more plaster

Simply convenient

Having started my design course and investing in a new sketch wallet and other drawing goodies, I thought I would doll up my case and matching tote with my favourite of all stamps Simply sassy pillow talk I have used her a lot even though I also purchased delicious and love a latte and sugar pip, this one was the one I chose to jazz up my bag.

The case and tote are made of a paintable canvas which I primed with artists gouache and then a layer of titanium white acrylic paint but not before masking off the area I wanted to stamp in I then stamped my image with Stazon black and water coloured with whispers brush markers and sealed with crafters companions clear spray varnish I must admit I went a bit crazy with varnish and it made the stazon bleed a bit but not too noticeable unless you look closely, I'm please with the result as it is the first time I have tried stamping on canvas, I finished off my edges with cosmic shimmer glitter glue, I have since die cut some flowers out of felt and attached these with eyelets.

Guess what I've been up to

I must apologize for my lack of posting the past couple of weeks as I have been up to allsorts. Term started for me on the 14th of September and I have enrolled myself on an access to art and design course which will hopefully lead me on to do my BA Hons in Art and design, so far it has been really interesting the tutors really know how to take you out of your comfort zone, I have also had a make over done by my lovely fiancée, oh yes of course while we were away he proposed, and I am now engaged so, my brain has not exactly been on crafting, as I have had a lot of letters, to write and phone calls to make just so no one hears its second hand from any body Paul has a lot of family, so now my head is back in blog land i will be sharing with you my experiences on my course and back to entering a few challenges I hope. So please stay tunes as I take you on this fabulous journey of mine, to think I'm forty one and for me life has taken an unexpected turn, and as for my make over(and the ring) I'm sure pics will follow soon. Its so good to be back.

Thanks for stopping by talk soon x

Yet another week has gone by………..

And I have not done any of the projects I set out to do,  I pick my challenges, and never get round to doing my projects for them, where is my time going its not fair, out comes the pro-plus for my project for design team call at Emerald faeries garden I love the blog, but as of yet have not had chance to take part in any of the challenges, why because by the time I get round to making my project the challenge has finished and a new one is underway, my hands are now spending to much time in the sink and not crafting, its not gluing and sticking its folding and ironing, any way I have had my moan here is my card, using Ebony who is so gorgeous, I also downloaded Isla but have not got round to using her yet, and also the Drop sentiments, which I really think is a fab Idea if you don't want heavy charms on your cards any way I digress,

Colour match challenge

Well I knew this one was not going to be easy but I am going to give it my best shot, the simply sassy design team this week is lead by Elaine and she has asked us to recreate the colours in this image, but not using the same image, MMMM I thought, so here’s Elaine’s image

Elaine

Beautiful colouring and I'm probably thinking she has used copic’s to colour her image so no matter what I think I will not be able to get my shades as close as I would like and hence the challenge

And here’s mine

sassy image

I myself have used my pro-markers  along with my prismas to try and recreate at least the same blended effects, you can get a better close up by clicking the image if you like, hope you like it, well done Elaine your blending is beautiful.

Extra Bling with a side order of Fab-u-lous

I could not wait to get my hands on Kenny K’s booty -licious babe, she is a dream to colour in and I'm not finished as I want to try her in all different colours, you know you just cant get enough colouring time in its not fair, I kept the card quite simple because I want the image to stand out, this card is especially for this challenge over at Make it colourful, the theme is colouring dark skin and this is one of the trial and error problems that I had to overcome when I first got my pro-markers, so I made my self a colour reference guide, you will find it in one of my earlier posts, but I don't think I got any photos of the inside of the book, any way I'm waffling on here's my card for the challenge, hope you like it.

bling1

And a close up for you, I used my Pro-markers Tan, Caramel and Cocoa,  and Prisma’s  Burnt umber cardinal red and terracotta.

More animal antics!!

I was meant to post this last night but got side tracked by Simply sassy and can I just say that Krista Smith’s new blog is looking really pretty, so head on over to take a peek, so on to my next challenge and this card I had made for my sister to give to her god daughter, and because I didn't know if she was a girly girl I kept to animals which is always a safe bet when doing kids cards, she is turning four, so I kept it quite basic actually compared to what I normally make, and here it is

godaugh-1

And a close up for you,

Simply Sassy

Artist and creator of  Simply Sassy stamps Krista  has totally got me hooked, her artwork and images are so different and to cool for school that I had to get my hands on a couple to have a play and play I did, I had so much fun, colouring these as they are so expression able,  and they take on their own personality that each one you could actually fit them to some one you know. I created this card using Pillow talk, link there for you, and I absolutely loved it now I never normally do this but I could not wait to colour the image and I started with the theme reds and hot pinks which really worked well, I used pro-markers crimson, lipstick red, hot pink, and cardinal red, skin tones I stuck to vanilla, saffron and ivory and for her hair I used cool greys 1,3,5 and black and here's what I came up with
