Guess what I've been up to

I must apologize for my lack of posting the past couple of weeks as I have been up to allsorts. Term started for me on the 14th of September and I have enrolled myself on an access to art and design course which will hopefully lead me on to do my BA Hons in Art and design, so far it has been really interesting the tutors really know how to take you out of your comfort zone, I have also had a make over done by my lovely fiancée, oh yes of course while we were away he proposed, and I am now engaged so, my brain has not exactly been on crafting, as I have had a lot of letters, to write and phone calls to make just so no one hears its second hand from any body Paul has a lot of family, so now my head is back in blog land i will be sharing with you my experiences on my course and back to entering a few challenges I hope. So please stay tunes as I take you on this fabulous journey of mine, to think I'm forty one and for me life has taken an unexpected turn, and as for my make over(and the ring) I'm sure pics will follow soon. Its so good to be back.

Thanks for stopping by talk soon x

More animal antics!!

I was meant to post this last night but got side tracked by Simply sassy and can I just say that Krista Smith’s new blog is looking really pretty, so head on over to take a peek, so on to my next challenge and this card I had made for my sister to give to her god daughter, and because I didn't know if she was a girly girl I kept to animals which is always a safe bet when doing kids cards, she is turning four, so I kept it quite basic actually compared to what I normally make, and here it is

And a close up for you,

Just a quick thanks

I just wanted to pop on and show you a couple of projects that we did in workshop, if I am honest I am not overly confident that people are going to like the projects that I do but the whole point of being a crafter is sharing what you love and I feel I have done this in bucket loads and I sincerely hope it came across.

bindbox1

Its a 4x4 box that can hold jewellery or pot pourri  or other special objects, I could think of loads of uses for it or you can just pop your pens in there, on your craft desk.

bindbox2

I want to say a special thanks to Jo for having the confidence in me to try a workshop for myself, and for the ladies for being so forgiving about my little mishaps, they are a wonderful bunch of ladies, and they are so much fun, and also a special thanks to Tracey, all your help was well appreciated and I was so glad to have it you would not believe nerves gets the better of me as I used to be a lone crafter and not socialise at all until I met Jo and the rest of the group you really have brought me out of my shell.

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon.

Here comes the boys

Just found this challenge blog that dedicates its challenges to men and boys cards, , so I'm entering my card in to Pink Gem Lets hear it for the boys, and also Here comes the boys challenge #6 where the theme is sporty, so on to my card,

gdad1

I used a golfer image which was a free download from do crafts creativity and coloured him in pro-markers, again I used minimal embellishments due to it being a mans card but i figured gem and twine and also some cotton binding would work really well, and on to the close up

Yummy Scrummy

Just a quick post today its very rare that i post on a week end  but, wanted to share this with you, my partner Paul and daughter Holly have been baking so, I quickly made them up these cute cake toppers, I used cherry cobbler SU/CS and whisper white and stamped back and front secured with a hot glue gun and cocktail stick, although the cakes have not been decorated yet I could not wait for them to do that and decided to take some picks anyway, what do you think.

Pretty in pink

I made this card for you today incorporating, lots of elements to my card for the sole purpose of fitting it in to as many challenges as I can. Firstly I have a sketch from Skipping Stones designs, its a really beautiful sketch and some thing different to what i have seen before,

Photobucket

I then had a look for colour and found pretty pastels at Paper-take weekly, I am starting to love using pastels as you can mix it up as much as you like and the colours still look great, and then i found an embellishment challenge over at passion for pro-markers its their second birthday and i thought this would be a good one you have to use embellishments in two’s, so i used two flowers, two butterflies and also, a double bow, which i thought looked really elegant, and of course image was coloured in using only pro-markers. I then went to I(heart) pro-markers and the challenge there was pearls also you have to use pro-markers, so i added pearls as a lovely extra, so here is my finished design hope you like it.

Two of a kind

When you have a 12x12” piece of card stock you can quite easily make two cards as i found doing this one i had too many images of a small nature so i decided to spilt them in to two different designs here’s what i come up with

bothcards

The images are from Pink Petticoat from their reduced section and they will be retiring so grab yourself a bargain, i printed on to SU Whisper white cardstock which gave me a brilliant result except you have to leave it overnight to dry completely or it will smudge with your pens (whichever medium you prefer to use) water colouring is out of the question as it will buckle your paper and smear your image, papers are from lily pad and the ribbon was from a Thornton's chocolate box that was bought for mother day for me, which matched my cherry cobbler red cs perfectly (happy accident) so here’s the close ups

Happy crafting folks see you soon xx

Altered Items

Candles are not a thing i would have ever dreamed of altering but when i saw some candles my sister bought from a gift shop that had a sentiment on i thought i can do that, so i did and after trial and error here is what i came up with,  i went on various websites like split coast stampers to see if i could find some tutorials there wasn't many, but i thought i would put my spin on it, i made these for Pauls moms birthday, using SU cardstock, i think it was wild wasabi, (if you know please correct me) i made Alice bands for the outer two and the middle one i stamped a sentiment on to tissue paper, ( i mean the kind you gift wrap with not the toilet kind) and used my heat tool to kind of fuse it on to the candle, well it looked ok, i was chuffed to bits any way what do you think?

Anniversary

When my sister asks me to make her a card , i automatically go in to a panicky and think where do i start as i did with this one although i would say i could have done better but for a male card i had to curve my enthusiasm, and think do not embellish to much and i think i have achieved what i was going for a masculine card but still elegant and one that says i love you without all the mush, what do you think.
